On the 25th October we were honoured with a visit from the Premier, Helen Zille.
The incident of the little girl that was killed by a dog, triggered many politicians’ interest in Animal Care. Mrs Zille’s visit to the PDSA, was to gain insight into the operation of our hospital facility and the communities that we serve.
It was also an opportunity for us to share our concerns and the need for financial assistance from government. This was met positively for discussion later on, once she had met with more of the Animal Welfare Organisations and established the best way forward. Mrs Zille met with our Senior Vet, Dr Alan Emerton, being recognized as one of the top, Animal, Orthopedic Surgeons in South Africa.
The tour through our hospital and surrounding grounds, was lead by Dr Emerton together with the Chief Administrator, Mr Vernon Rustin. Mrs Zille addressed the staff of the hospital during this tour and they were most encouraged and inspired by her interest and the visit.
