Help us to help your pet in need
We don't turn any sick animals away

Services you can expect from the PDSA

The PDSA provides a welfare veterinary service and offers the following:

  • Vaccinations
  • Deworming
  • Sterilizing of animals
  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • Opthalmic corrections
  • All correctional surgery
  • Burn corrections
  • Skin treatments
  • Education on how to care for your pet
  • 9 Mobile units around the country including:
    • Cape Town
    • Soweto
    • George

All of the above is accomplished through donations and the support of our communities and friends as we are a Non Profit Organisation.

Due to the economic pressure being brought to bear on the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals, we have been forced to impose a scale of tariffs. The PDSA can then continue in its quest to accomplish our mission statement “BETTERING THE LIVES THAT BRIGHTEN OURS”.

The people that qualify for our services need to earn a maximum, combined salary of R15 000 pm, per household or below. Should you earn over and above this amount, we are appealing to you to allow another underprivileged client to benefit from our services, by rather approaching a private vet.

For orthopedic treatment please note that after examination and consultation, a fee will discussed with the client, before any treatment is administered.

We also wish to advise that no one will be turned away from the PDSA for care or treatment of their animal, on condition that they provide us with proof of the following:

  • A copy of your salary slip
  • Either an affidavit stating that you are the sole breadwinner in the house or an affidavit stating your current unemployment status
  • A copy of your unemployment card or notice of registration for unemployment benefits

A Note from our Chairperson:

“We are under no illusions that this may be one our hardest years ever to maintain the levels of services we aspire to. Sadly, our facilities are being abused by people who can afford private veterinary care and we have therefore been forced to impose a scale of tariffs. I give you my personal assurance that no-one will be turned away because they cannot afford to pay, but the abuse of our services that are in place for the needy has impacted greatly on our ability to maintain and increase the facilities we provide to our poorer communities” - Jill Carstens
